Microsun® was founded in 1995 to develop state-of-the-art metal halide lighting products and make them available for use in home and offices settings. A long-time choice for lighting major sporting venues, metal halide lighting is well known for its bright, white light that most closely approximates the natural light from the sun. We visited Microsun® recently, and listened as Vice President of Sales Diane Hellman taught us the benefits and savings available with Microsun® lamps;
Microsun® offers a complete line of coordinating table and floor lamps that are certain to enhance the beauty of your home. Featuring revolutionary metal halide technology, our speciality lamps provide brighter, white light throughout your home in distinctive styles featuring top quality materials and craftsmanship. These lamps produce a very bright white, energy savings light which is ideal for reading, knitting, and a variety of other tasks.
As we age, we require more light to see. By age 60, the average person requires up to 15 times more light to see than they did when they were 10 years old. Sunlight is the best source of the natural light needed for optimal visual acuity. Microsun® lamps simulate natural daylight to provide crisp, glare-free light, just like the sun.
Different lighting technologies produce different color temperatures. Incandescent lamps offer a more yellow light, while halogen and fluorescent lighting produces a cold, bluish color. That's why you notice clothing, make-up, and even wall colors appear differently under various light sources. The metal halide bulbs found in Microsun® lamps offer a bright, white light that is the closest simulation to natural sunlight you can find.
The technology behind Microsun® lamps had its beginning in the large, white lights used for stadium lighting. We miniaturized the technology, and developed a 68 watt bulb that produces the same amount of light as one 300-watt halogen bulb or five 75-watt incandescent bulbs. Unlike incandescent bulbs, which often last less than 1,000 hours, or quartz bulbs lasting 2,000 hours, metal halide bulbs offer 6,000 hours of operation. On average, this means you'll only need to change your bulb every two to three years! Additionally, this lower wattage generates less heat than the other bulbs, while providing more light and using about half the electricity as other lighting sources.
Each Microsun® lamp includes two sockets for 25 watt incandescent bulbs. This enables your lamp to provide the superior lighting available with metal halide bulbs, and also be used as a security light or to enhance your room's ambience by utilizing the lower wattage incandescent bulbs.
As a result of the dedicated effort of Microsun® technicians and craftsmen, you can now enjoy the benefits of the most technologically advanced lighting in your own home and office.
