Maria Giallanza has been doing hair since 1987. Over the years, her father, Gaetano Giallanza, constantly encouraged her to open her own salon, but Maria didn't feel the time was right. With the encouragement of Maria's husband, Israel Viruena, in 1999 they decided to combine her salon experience with his business background and open their own salon. Gaetano had purchased the century old Solon Train Station and renovated the historic Train Depot into a beautiful retail and office center. When Mailboxes, Etc. moved out of the Solon Train Station, Maria and Israel moved in, expanded, and began to decorate in preparation for their opening day on April 1, 2000. We stopped by Maria Giallanza Salon & Spa recently, and listened as Maria described their wide range of services;

Maria Giallanza Salon & Spa is a full service hair salon offering everything from hair cutting for all ages to Aveda Hair Coloring, highlighting, texturizing, perms, and conditioning treatments. We provide skincare treatments including facials, face and body hair removal, make-up applications, and body bronzing. Our massage services range from a seated chair massage to full body massages lasting from thirty to ninety minutes. We're a beauty establishment created in a relaxing environment, where the soul, mind, and body reach together to enhance your physical and mental relaxation.

We are an Aveda Concept Salon, and utilize the complete line of Aveda hair care, skin and body care, and make-up products. We not only use Aveda products exclusively in our salon, we have the skin care, body care, and make-up products available for purchase by our customers for use at home. With every haircut in our salon, you'll also receive a complimentary Aveda Sensory Experience that includes a scalp massage, a hand and arm massage, and, if you like, a make-up touch-up.

We pride ourselves on offering a relaxing, soothing atmosphere. When you enter our salon, we'll greet you with a smile, take your coat and give you a smock, and show you to our changing room. We'll offer you a beverage, and we always have soothing music playing in the background. We've designed the entire salon, from the colors to the materials, with your comfort in mind. The look, the feel, and even the smell of our salon are designed to help you feel relaxed.

Maria Giallanza Salon & Spa is a non-tipping, team-based salon with everyone here being paid a salary. Our professional stylists work together as a team to provide a more efficient, friendlier atmosphere. During your visit with us, you may have several team members assisting you.
