It was the mid 1960s and Pat Cornacchione had young daughters who were always needing their hair cut. She decided that with some training, she could cut her girls' hair herself and by attending classes while her children were in school, she could be home for them and learning to cut hair at the same time. By the time she completed her training in 1969, she had come to the conclusion that she really enjoyed cutting hair.

Pat opened her first beauty shop in Mentor in 1970 and began a successful career that has spanned over three decades. After ten years running her own shop, she and her husband bought into the Future Directions Hair Design franchise and opened a new salon in 1980 in Solon. Since opening Future Directions, Pat has been joined in her business by no less than two daughters and a daughter-in-law and now her family is available to serve your family with all facets of hair and nail care for men, women, and children. Future Directions Hair Design is equipped and staffed to provide cutting for men and women of all ages, perms, shampoos and sets, waxing, manicures, pedicures, coloring, highlighting, acrylic nails, and facials. In keeping with their family oriented business, they also offer hair cuts without requiring you to have your hair styled like most salons. Their relaxing, unpretentious atmosphere is managed by Pat's daughter, Dana, and offers competitive prices, gift certificates, and a full line of hair care products from Matrix, Paul Mitchell, and Nexus. A new line of products for Future Directions is Juan's, a brand from Canada which they're finding to be very impressive, particularly Juan's hair conditioner. Pat says that what impresses her the most about this conditioner is that it actually does what most claim to do and don't. The staff at Future Directions is constantly involved in continuing education classes by attending shows and seminars and by having instructors come to the shop to keep them up to date on the latest styles and techniques.
