A pipefitter by trade, Dennis Gibbons and his family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he incurred a muscle related problem. After the difficulty was corrected, Dennis became very interested in how the body's muscle structure effect overall health. Upon his return to Cleveland in 1980, he went back to work as a pipefitter, and also enrolled in massage therapy school at the Ohio College of Massotherapy in Akron, Ohio. In June 1987, Dennis opened a part-time practice in the Solon Professional Building, working as a pipefitter during the day, and doing massage therapy in the evening and on weekends. With his wife Margaret fulfilling the duties of office manager and secretary, Dennis began attending triathlons on the weekends where he would work with the participating athletes. Switching over to a full-time practice, Dennis began working with the Cleveland Ballet in October 1998, and the first dancer he worked with was Rudolf Nureyev. Working with these dancers and athletes, Dennis started to understand that without proper alignment and posture, he would be unable to solve their problems on a permanent basis. He started to develop the technique that would come to be know as The Gibbons Method of Postural Analysis and Stabilization© in 1989, and by 1993 was invited to teach his method to the students at the Ohio College of Massotherapy in Akron. After working with the dance department at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, Dennis discovered that The Gibbons Method of Postural Analysis and the Pilates method of movement could be integrated to perform a more vital role in maintaining wellness. This realization lead to the establishment of Chagrin Valley Wellness Center, where Dennis incorporates his own methods with a uniquely effective interpretation of other modalities. We met with Dennis and Margaret recently, and listened as they outlined their center's extensive offerings;
Chagrin Valley Wellness Center is dedicated to alleviating pain and keeping it from returning. Call or stop by Chagrin Valley Wellness Center today and don't forget to tell them The Advocate sent you! |
